Last Chance Antiques & Cheese Cafe is open for lunch and dinner, and has been serving families for 39 years. Antiques create a nostalgic atmosphere that complements comfort food like meatloaf and mashed potatoes with hot mushroom gravy. If something cold is more to your liking, you can choose from more than 300 bottled beers. – The New York Times
Today, there are still antiques for sale, as well as about 100 cheeses, including local ones from Painted Goat, Old Chatham, and Byebrook Farm. You’ll also find dried fruits and nuts, local honey and syrup, Swiss chocolates, old-fashioned candy, and baseball caps with the Last Chance logo.
The beer list has grown to 300 brews, and the menu includes rib-stickers like chicken pot pies, meatloaf, and — a house invention — the knishwich; a knish topped with corned beef, pastrami or turkey, and melted cheese. – Hudson Valley Magazine
Should you have the chocolate fondue dessert when the path out the front door is paved with homemade fudge and ribbons of kid-pleasing licorice? Do you forego one of the best onion soups on the planet to leave room for the homemade lasagna? – Ski Magazine
Named “Best après ski treat: Head a few miles down the road to the little town of Tannersville and indulge in some down home goodness at the Last Chance Cheese shop — a restaurant and shop rolled into one.” – Hudson Valley Magazine December 2010
